About Dinor
Dinor is a restaurant operating platform: diners scan a table QR code to browse the menu and order from their phone, while the restaurant runs everything — menus, tables, staff, live orders, billing and reports — from one dashboard.
What is Dinor?
Dinor replaces the paper-menu-and-wait workflow with a direct line between the table and the kitchen. A diner scans the QR at their table, verifies presence with the table's PIN, orders and watches a live running bill. Staff approve each order before it hits the kitchen, handle service requests with one tap and settle bills digitally or in cash. Owners get multi-branch management, team roles, plan-based billing and daily/weekly/monthly reporting on top.
Why Dinor was created
Most Indian restaurants still run on shouted orders, misheard items and bills reconstructed at the counter. The tools that fix this are usually built for large chains — heavy, expensive and dependent on dedicated hardware. Dinor was created to give independent restaurants the same operational precision with nothing but the phones already in everyone's pockets and a printed QR code on the table.
The problems Dinor solves
- Waiter dependency: diners order the moment they decide — no flagging someone down, no forgotten table.
- Order errors: orders arrive exactly as typed by the customer and staff approve each one before the kitchen starts.
- Billing disputes: the bill builds live in front of the diner, item by item, with taxes and charges applied transparently.
- Menu friction: update a price or mark an item unavailable and every table sees it instantly — no reprinting.
- Multi-branch blindness: owners see revenue, orders and staff activity across every branch from one place.
Mission & vision
Mission: make world-class restaurant operations affordable for every independent restaurant in India — starting with the table itself.
Vision: a restaurant industry where the smallest family-run diner runs with the same operational clarity as a national chain and where the technology involved is invisible to the guest beyond a smoother meal.
Our values
- Restaurant-first: features earn their place by saving a shift's worth of friction, not by looking good in a demo.
- Honest software: no fake urgency, no dark patterns, no auto-renewals you didn't ask for — and legal pages that describe what the product actually does.
- Privacy by default: we collect the minimum needed to serve a table and we run no trackers or ads. Ever.
- Craft: a small, carefully built platform beats a sprawling, fragile one.
Why restaurants can trust Dinor
- A free first month of the Basic plan for every new business — you validate Dinor on real service days before paying anything.
- No lock-in: plans are prepaid 30-day periods with no auto-renewal; if you stop paying, your data stays intact and exportable.
- Your customers stay yours: diner details are visible to your restaurant, not monetised by us.
- Transparent policies: Privacy, Security, Refunds — all written from the actual implementation.
The technology powering Dinor
Dinor is a modern web platform: a Next.js application for the site, dashboard and QR ordering experience; a NestJS API with a PostgreSQL database (Supabase on AWS); realtime order and bill updates over WebSockets; payments through Razorpay; and transactional email via Resend. It runs entirely in the browser — no app installs for diners, no special hardware for restaurants.
Security & privacy commitment
Passwords are bcrypt-hashed, email ownership is verified with expiring one-time codes, every table is protected by a physical PIN with rate-limited attempts, payment confirmations are cryptographically verified and role-based access keeps each restaurant's data isolated. We set no cookies and run no analytics or trackers. The full, honest list — including what we don't yet have — is on the Security page.
Founder
Dinor is founded and built by Joshua Kuriakose, a software engineer from Kottayam, Kerala, India. Being founder-built is a feature: the person who wrote the code answers the support email, ships the fixes and carries the roadmap — with no layers between a restaurant's problem and the person who can solve it.
